It's not just a basketball league, it's a movement

The Blendos Health & Longevity Movement currently provides seasonal recreational basketball leagues in Oneonta, NY. 2025 will mark the 12th year anniversary for the summer leagues and in 2016 we developed a spring and winter league along with a one day 5 on 5 holiday basketball tournament.

In 2017 we also added individual and group training for people trying to further develop their skills and increase their overall basketball IQ.

When people ask how I came up with the idea for the name "Blendos" the story isn't what most people would think but in the end it makes perfect sense, so here goes:

While I was a broke college kid attending SUNY Cobleskill, I got into really good shape and the owner of Tino's Pizzeria (Tino Garufi) made a deal with me that I could get free food for the summer if I trained his youngest son Josh, weekly. This helped me tremendously. After transferring to SUNY Brockport and beginning to play football, Tino informed me that his son would be focusing on strickly baseball workouts and he has a baseball trainer, so I needed to come up with something else.

Through conversation I noticed that Tino would benefit from increased summer foot traffic and I proposed the idea of subleasing the restaurant and selling shakes & smoothies paired with along fruit and healthy alternatives that could merge with current items. In a sense I was trying to -"Blend into Tino's" ----- Blendos.

I initially set up a small business plan to do just that, unfortunately there was problems with the lease agreement and he was not allowed to sublet.

In order to not be defeated, I added Health & Longevity Movement to Blendos trying to adapt creating community recreation programs & events that can increase individuals overall quality of life.

In 2025 we aim to launch additional recreational programs such as Community Kickball & Wiffle Ball.
