Hey Blendos fans!
As the commissioner of the Blendos Health and Longevity Movement's basketball leagues, I've had the privilege of lacing up for nearly every season since we kicked things off back in 2013. That's given me a front-row seat (and often a spot on the court) to some incredible defensive plays over the years.
Today, we're diving into the all-time career leaders in blocks from our 5v5 player stats – a testament to the rim protectors who've swatted shots and anchored defenses across countless games.
If you've followed our leagues, you know blocks aren't easy to come by. They require timing, athleticism, and that extra gear to contest at the rim. While raw totals tell part of the story, longevity plays a huge role – which is why you'll often see me (Cam Hayes) near the top of these career lists. With 407 games under my belt, I've racked up blocks through sheer volume and consistency. But let's not overlook the efficiency kings: players who dominate per game, even if they haven't played as many seasons.
One quick note before we jump in: We're still heartbroken over some missing stats from the Summer B League of 2015 and basically all of the 2016 league stats. If you've got any old records or memories from those seasons, drop them in the comments – we'd love to fill in those gaps and make our historical legend even more complete!
In this blog, I'll unveil the top 100 all-time blocks leaders, complete with a new column for blocks per game (BPG) to give a fuller picture. Then, we'll break down some notable achievements, comparing the volume leaders with the per-game beasts.
The Top 100: Career Blocks Leaders
Here's the ranked list. I've calculated BPG as total blocks divided by games played, rounded to two decimal places for clarity.

Notable Achievements: Volume vs. Efficiency in Blendos Defense
The Volume Kings: Longevity Pays Off – The Relentless Warriors Who Never Quit
Joe DeMauro (Rank 1, 254 BLK, 2.92 BPG): Ah, Joe – the king of kings! Not only does he top the totals, but his jaw-dropping 2.92 BPG means he's rejecting shots like they're bad ideas. In just 87 games, he's combined volume with elite efficiency, making him the ultimate "what if he played forever?" story. I've faced him plenty of times, and let me tell you, driving on Joe feels like challenging a fortress! Before I even started running the Blendos summer leagues, I played against Joe for the first time and didn't realize who I was up against. I was matched up on him, and I was in pretty good shape at the time. I attempted 5 different moves out of my first 6 shots, and they were all blocked. To be honest, it was truly traumatizing – I have a very quick release, and my shot doesn't typically get blocked. That experience stuck with me and showed me just how elite his defensive instincts are!
Travis Woods (Rank 3, 207 BLK, 1.36 BPG) and Jared Beach (Rank 4, 201 BLK, 1.03 BPG): These two are the dynamic duo of durability! Travis brings that extra pop with his BPG, but both have crossed the 200-block mark in 150+ games. Imagine the highlight reels: Swats that echo through the gym, season after season. They're proof that sticking around pays off – and hey, Jared, if defense runs in the family (shoutout to Jacob at Rank 38), you've got the genes!
Efficiency Beasts: High BPG Standouts – The Explosive Shot-Swatters Who Steal the Show
Now, flip the script: These players don't need hundreds of games to make their mark. They're the fireworks of defense – bursting onto the scene and changing games in an instant. If volume is about endurance, efficiency is about that "wow" factor that leaves you replaying the block in your head.
Jalen McCallum (Rank 52, 45 BLK, 3.00 BPG): A flawless 3.00 BPG? That's not defense; that's art! In just 15 games, Jalen's turning layups into memes. Ever wonder what it's like to get posterized in reverse? Ask anyone who's driven on him – pure domination!
Joe DeMauro (2.92 BPG): Back again, because why not? Joe's not just a volume guy; his per-game swats make him a nightmare. Picture this: Opponents hesitating at the rim, knowing Joe's lurking like a shadow.
Lorenzo Stallworth (Rank 62, 40 BLK, 2.86 BPG in 14 GP): Boom! Nearly 3 blocks per game in limited action – if Lorenzo played a full career, he'd own every record. It's the ultimate "what if" tease that keeps us dreaming.
Deen Salaam (Rank 81, 29 BLK, 1.81 BPG in 16 GP) and Ted Hinnenkamp (Rank 93, 25 BLK, 1.79 BPG in 14 GP): These short-burst legends are like guest stars who steal the show. High BPG in few games? That's the stuff of Blendos lore – imagine the chaos if they'd stuck around longer!
On the other end, vets like Rob Scianimanico (Rank 57, 44 BLK in 254 GP, 0.17 BPG) or Travis Moyer (Rank 82, 28 BLK in 170 GP, 0.16 BPG) are the unsung heroes. Not flashy, but their steady presence embodies our health-focused mission: Play long, play smart, and keep those blocks coming!
Key Comparisons and Trends: Where the Magic Happens
Alright, Blendos crew – let's get real: What's more thrilling, the slow-burn legacy or the instant explosion?
Here's where volume and efficiency collide in epic fashion:
The Ultimate Trade-Off: Marathon vs. Sprint: Top totals demand 100+ games (looking at my 407 GP odyssey), but BPG stars like Dalton Walsh (Rank 47, 1.72 BPG in 29 GP) or Jason Davis (Rank 67, 1.55 BPG in 22 GP) rocket up the ranks fast. It's like choosing between a reliable pickup truck and a sports car – both win, but in wildly different ways. Which side are you on?
Defensive Dynasties and Family Feuds: Spot the connections? Jared Beach and Jacob Beach (Rank 38) dominating the top 50 – talk about a blocking bloodline! Then there's league lifers like Ray Williams (Rank 8, 284 GP) and Danny Njoku (Rank 20, 259 GP), evolving with Blendos from scrappy starts to stat-stuffing pros.
From Rookies to Legends: The Blendos Evolution: Mix in fresh faces like Makya Morrison (Rank 50, 1.24 BPG) with old-school anchors like Aaron Laing (Rank 6, 1.40 BPG), and you've got a timeline from 2013 to 2025. It's not just numbers; it's our league's heartbeat – growing, adapting, and getting fiercer every year.
The Bigger Picture: Defense Meets Wellness: Remember, blocks aren't just highlights; they're symbols of pushing limits safely. High-BPG fireworks motivate us to go hard, while volume champs like me preach consistency for lifelong health. In Blendos, every swat is a step toward better living – what's your next defensive move?
Top 50 All-Time Career Blocks Per Game Leaders
To really spotlight the elite shot-blockers – the ones who dominate on a per-game basis – here's the top 50 in career blocks per game (BPG).
I've set a minimum of 10 games played to qualify, ensuring we're highlighting players with meaningful sample sizes rather than one-off flukes.
This list shifts the focus from sheer volume (where longevity like mine shines) to efficiency and impact every time they step on the court.
Joe DeMauro still reigns supreme here with nearly 3 BPG over 87 games – a true defensive monster.
Compare this to the totals list above: High-BPG players often have fewer games but make every minute count, showcasing the "best" at altering shots.

This BPG leaderboard gives a fresh perspective compared to the totals list.
For instance, Jalen McCallum tops it with a perfect 3.0 BPG, but over just 15 games – explosive but short.
On the flip side, players like Dev Vanderhoof (1.64 BPG over 121 games) and Travis Woods (1.43 over 152) prove they can sustain elite defense season after season.
If you're aiming to model your game after the "best," study these averages: They reveal who truly owns the paint night in and night out. Any surprises here for you?
