Blendos League Legends: Top 50 Single-Season Steals Per Game – Comparing Thresholds for Consistency

Hey blendos fans and stat junkies!

Welcome back to the Blendos Historical Blog, where we dive deep into the archives of one of the most exciting amateur leagues around.

Today, we're shining the spotlight on defense—specifically, those lightning-quick hands that turn games upside down.

If you've been following Blendos, you know this league has seen some absolute ball hawks over the years.

From sneaky pickpockets to full-court press monsters, these players have made opponents rethink every pass. We've crunched the numbers from the historical legend document, and to provide a fuller picture, we're presenting two versions of the top 50: one with a minimum of 3 games played (allowing for explosive short bursts) and another with a minimum of 6 games played (emphasizing sustained performance over half or full seasons).

Blendos seasons vary: Spring, Fall, and Winter offer 7 regular-season games plus single-elimination playoffs, while Summer provides 9 regular season games.

This comparison highlights how game volume affects defensive stats—short samples can showcase hot streaks, while longer seasons reward adaptability and endurance.

We'll start with the more inclusive min-3 GP list, then move to the stricter min-6 GP version for direct comparison.

Key Differences: Half-Season Bursts vs. Full-Season Grind

Requiring at least 6 games filters out those eye-popping but short-sample performances from the previous list (min. 3 GP).

Here's what stands out:

  • The Ceiling Drops: The previous top mark was Graham Wooden's insane 6.250 SPG over 4 games in Spring 2025 B—now excluded, dropping the new leader to 3.857 (still Wooden, but in a different season over 7 games). Similarly, outliers like Tim Kamina's 4.667 over 3 games or Divine Ceaser's 4.000 over 3 are gone. This suggests small-sample seasons can inflate stats due to hot streaks, while fuller seasons (closer to the 7-9 regular games) demand sustained energy and adaptation as opponents scout you better.

  • Excluded Elites: About 20 entries from the old list didn't make the cut due to GP under 6, including standouts like Divine Gray (multiple short-season entries at 3.000), Jo Annan (several at 3.000-3.667 over 3-5 games), and others like Drese Bradford or Jr Shepard. These players often shone in aggressive, partial seasons or perhaps injury-shortened ones, hinting at "what if" potential but lacking the volume for this list.

  • Sustained Stars Rise: Players like DJ Basile (two entries over 9-10 games) and Ryan Ashline (multiple over 8-9 games) hold strong, showing their defensive prowess holds up over longer hauls. Summer leagues, with their 9-game base, dominate the upper ranks (e.g., top 3 are all Summer), possibly because the extra games allow for more total steals while maintaining high SPG—though it also means more fatigue and strategic adjustments.

  • Inference on Season Length: Half-season efforts (around 3-4 games, common in Spring/Fall/Winter) might allow for aggressive, high-risk defense early on, leading to higher SPG before teams adjust. Full seasons (7-9) games, including playoffs) reward adaptable defenders who conserve energy and evolve tactics. Notice how playoff-inclusive stats (potentially adding 1-3 games) appear in longer GP entries, suggesting deep-run teams foster consistent steal artists. Overall, the average SPG in this list is lower (dropping from ~3.5+ peaks to a more grounded 2.6-3.8 range), illustrating the grind of a complete campaign weeds out unsustainable paces.

This shift highlights Blendos' defensive evolution: Flashy starts grab headlines, but championships (and these rankings) go to the consistent. Who do you think benefits most from longer seasons? Sound off below—we tackle blocks next!
