Week 2 of the Blendos Spring 2026 season is officially in the books! From shorthanded heroics and dominant doubleheaders in the B League to razor-thin thrillers in the A League, we saw breakout performances, clutch plays, and several teams emerging as early contenders. With every B League team now having played at least one game and the A League heating up, here are the full recaps from a crazy Sunday at the Armory.

B League Week 2 Recap:

2:00 PM – Team Blendos (Black) 93 – Pink 70

Team Blendos-Black made a statement in their season debut, shocking Pink 93-70 in the first game of the day. The Black squad jumped out to a massive 53-21 halftime lead and held on despite Pink’s 49-point second-half push, securing a 23-point victory while playing shorthanded with only four players the entire game.

Game Flow Team Blendos (Black) came out firing on all cylinders, building a staggering 32-point halftime advantage through hot three-point shooting and relentless rebounding. Pink responded aggressively after the break, cutting the lead significantly with better ball movement and interior scoring, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Key Takeaways

  • Undefeated Tier: Five teams sit at 2-0 or better (Orchid leads with 3-0 and the second-best point differential). Red owns the biggest net rating (+50), followed by Purple (+39) and Team Blendos (Black) (+32) — showing the top of the standings is already being separated by efficiency and margin of victory rather than just wins.

  • Mid-Pack Volatility: Carolina Blue and Pink are the only .500 teams, but both carry positive point differentials from Week 1 blowouts that have been offset by Week 2 losses.

  • Bottom Tier: Royal Blue (0-3, –79) is in a hole, while the four 0-2 teams are all trending downward.

  • Early Season Trend: Point differential is proving more predictive than wins alone — the top five teams have combined +178 while the bottom five are –174.

Week 1 vs Week 2 Comparison & League Trends

After two complete weeks of action, several meaningful patterns have emerged that distinguish the early leaders from the rest of the pack. The data reveals a league that rewards adaptability, depth, and second-half execution far more than raw Week 1 explosions.

Scoring & Efficiency Trends

Week 1 produced several high-scoring outbursts (Pink’s 90 PPG, Carolina Blue’s 84 PPG), but Week 2 showed a more tempered league-wide average with sharper separation at the top. Team Blendos (Black) averaged 90 PPG across two games despite extreme shorthanded conditions (five players), while Pink suffered the largest regression of the young season — dropping from 90 PPG / 121 EFF in Week 1 to 70 points and 32% FG in Week 2. Red’s 53-point second half against Carolina Blue stands as the most dominant half yet, illustrating how teams that adjust defensively mid-game can dramatically reverse outcomes. Contenders continue to hover around 40-45% FG, while teams below 35% (Green, Pink in Week 2) are consistently falling short.

Rebounding & Defensive Identity

Rebounding remains the clearest separator. MAMCO surged from 32 rebounds in Week 1 to 59 in Week 2, and Red improved its glass work to 38 REB in its statement win. Conversely, Green’s rebounding collapsed from 41 in Week 1 to just 22 in Week 2 — a clear regression that contributed to their 0-2 start. Steals and blocks trended upward for winning teams (Team Blendos (Black) recorded 9 + 7 steals across their doubleheader), reinforcing that defensive intensity is directly translating into victories.

Shooting & Pace Adjustments

Three-point shooting remains volatile but critical. Team Blendos (Black) shot 41% from deep

in their opener and 29% in the second game, yet won both through volume and elite free-throw accuracy (87% FT). MAMCO improved from 40% 3PT in Week 1 to 37% in Week 2 while increasing assist totals (19 vs 8), indicating better ball movement. On the flip side, Carolina Blue’s 3PT% dropped sharply, and their turnover rate (18) exposed vulnerabilities against Red’s transition attack. League FG% for contenders remains stable around 40-45%, but teams below 35% continue to struggle.

Roster Depth, Family Ties & Recruiting Impact

The league’s unique culture continues to drive success. Father-son duos, Teams with veteran-newcomer mixes (MAMCO, Team Blendos (Black)) are winning through depth, while pure youth or inexperienced squads (Green, Royal Blue) are struggling with consistency. Comissioner Cam Hayes’ recruiting efforts are paying early dividends with debuts like Jack Langstaff (15 pts) contributing immediatley

Standings Movement & Early Implications

After two full weeks, Team Blendos (Black), MAMCO (Grey), Red, and Orchid (Wooden) sit at 2-0 or better with the strongest combined efficiency and rebounding margins. Pink and Carolina Blue have each suffered their first loss, exposing the danger of relying on single-game explosions. Royal Blue remains winless at 0-3, and Green at 0-2 — both must address turnovers and rebounding immediately. With all B League teams now having played at least one game, the parity gap is widening faster than in Week 1.

These early trends suggest a season defined by adaptability, depth, and family-driven chemistry rather than raw talent alone. Teams that improve week-over-week (MAMCO’s rebounding surge, Red’s second-half dominance) are pulling ahead, while those stuck in Week 1 patterns are falling behind. The league is still young, but the foundation for a highly competitive spring is already visible.

Week 2 Predictions vs Reality – Statistical Deep Dive

Reference: Official Blendos Spring Basketball League Week 1 Recap (which highlighted Orchid’s depth without Graham Wooden, Blendos’ Cam Hayes sub/release, and early efficiency gaps).

In last week’s preview I projected spreads based on Week 1 net ratings, shooting splits, rebounding margins, and roster depth from the official Week 1 blog. Here’s how reality compared, quantified with advanced metrics from actual box scores:

  1. Team Blendos (Black) Doubleheader

    • Prediction: Pink favored by 8; Royal Blue favored by 6 (Week 1 explosions: Pink 90 PPG / 121 EFF).

    • Reality: Team Blendos (Black) swept 93-70 (+23) & 87-78 (+9) → 2-0.

    • Deep dive: Team Blendos (Black) played both games with only 4 players in Game 1 and 5 in Game 2 yet posted +32 combined net rating. Cam Hayes averaged 40 PPG / 18.5 REB / 7.5 AST (49 EFF). Pink’s FG% cratered –16 points (48% → 32%). Royal Blue turnovers spiked to 19. This was the biggest upset of the season and flipped the “explosive veteran” narrative.

  2. MAMCO (Grey) vs Green

    • Prediction: Green favored by 3.

    • Reality: MAMCO won 64-46 (+18).

    • Deep dive: MAMCO rebounding surged +27 (32 → 59); Green collapsed –19 (41 → 22). Jared Conklin’s 28 EFF + 3 blocks anchored +12 steal/block margin. Green eFG% dropped to 31% (league low).

  3. Red vs Carolina Blue

    • Prediction: Carolina Blue favored by 4.

    • Reality: Red won 83-57 (+26).

    • Deep dive: Red’s second-half explosion produced +25 differential swing. George Sheley’s 45% 3PT on 20 attempts + +13 steal margin exposed Carolina Blue’s 18 turnovers. Red now leads league net rating at +50.

  4. Orchid OT Win

    • Prediction: Orchid favored by 12.

    • Reality: 73-65 OT (+8).

    • Deep dive: Graham Wooden’s debut (34 PTS / 46 EFF) was spot-on, but Sylvester Bassett’s clutch tying shot forced OT. Orchid’s 60% FT was their only inefficiency.

Prediction Record After Week 2 Out of the 5 major game predictions made heading into Week 2:

  • Correct: 1 (Orchid win directionally)

  • Incorrect: 4 (wrong favorite/margin in Team Blendos (Black) vs Pink, Team Blendos (Black) vs Royal Blue, MAMCO vs Green, and Red vs Carolina Blue)

Brief Examination of Misses The main reasons for the misses were over-reliance on Week 1 offensive explosions without factoring in regression (e.g., Pink's FG% dropped 16 points) and defensive improvements. I also underestimated Team Blendos (Black)'s chemistry and efficiency despite playing shorthanded. Rebounding dominance (MAMCO) and second-half adjustments (Red) were far more predictive than raw scoring volume. This highlights the importance of sustainable metrics and depth in early season analysis.

Week 3 Predictions & Spreads (Sunday, March 22)

Here are the updated Week 3 B League game predictions with brief reasoning for each pick and spread. All spreads are my best estimate based on current records, net ratings, recent form, roster depth, and matchup-specific data from Weeks 1-2.

  • 2:00 PM – Team Blendos (Black) vs MAMCO (Grey)

    • Pick: Team Blendos (Black) -3 Two undefeated 2-0 teams collide in the early marquee matchup. Team Blendos (Black) leads the league in scoring (90 PPG) and has elite three-point volume (32 3PM), while MAMCO (Grey) is the top defensive team (50 PPG allowed, 17% opponent 3PT). Blendos (Black)’s explosive offense edges out MAMCO’s rebounding dominance in a close, high-stakes battle.

  • 3:00 PM – Poolbrook Contracting (Gold) vs Team Blendos (Black)

    • Pick: Team Blendos (Black) -11 Team Blendos (Black) plays their second game of the day against a 0-1 Poolbrook squad with a –32 net rating. Blendos (Black)’s depth and momentum from a perfect opening weekend should overwhelm Gold unless Poolbrook finds a miracle shooting night.

  • 4:00 PM – Red vs Poolbrook Contracting (Gold)

    • Pick: Red -17 Red is rolling with a +50 net rating and back-to-back blowouts. Poolbrook is still searching for their first win and has been outscored by 32 in their lone game. Expect Red to keep the pedal down and improve to 3-0.

  • 5:00 PM – Oneonta Job Corps Academy (White) vs Bello/Richfield (Midnight Navy)

    • Pick: Bello/Richfield -5 Two 0-2 teams desperate for a win. Bello/Richfield has multiple father-son duos and slightly better overall efficiency so far; Oneonta has shown fight but sits at –36 net. Give the slight edge to Bello/Richfield in what could be the first “win column” game for either side.

  • 5:50 PM – Carolina Blue vs Sapphire

    • Pick: Carolina Blue -8 Carolina Blue is 1-1 with positive differential (+6) and has shown they can score in bunches. Sapphire is 0-1 and –23, still looking for rhythm. Carolina Blue should bounce back here and move back toward .500.

  • 6:40 PM – Sapphire vs Pink

    • Pick: Pink -6 Pink is 1-1 with a huge +23 differential and proven scoring punch (even after their Week 2 regression). Sapphire is 0-1 and still searching. Pink’s experience should carry them to their second win.

    • 7:45 PM – Purple vs Green

    • Pick: Purple -13 Purple is 2-0 (+39 differential) and playing extremely efficient basketball (53% FG). Green is 0-2 (–24) and has struggled on the glass. This looks like a comfortable home win for Purple as they chase the perfect record.

  • 8:45 PM – Purple vs Orchid (Wooden)

    • Pick: Orchid (Wooden) -4 The marquee matchup of the night! Orchid is 3-0 (+37) and the clear league leader; Purple is 2-0 (+39) and one of the hottest teams. This is the first true “top vs. top” clash. Orchid’s extra game experience and star power (Graham Wooden’s debut impact) gives them the narrow edge in what should be the closest and most exciting game of the day.

Week 3 Storylines

  • Team Blendos (Black) doubleheader survival test.

  • Orchid vs Purple heavyweight clash.

  • First wins for the bottom tier?

Week 2 proved the Week 1 blog’s depth narrative correct. Week 3 will separate the contenders. Drop your picks below — full recaps coming after the games! 🏀
