Blendos Summer Basketball League 2022: Episode 4

week 4 game recap


A league


Week 4 of the a-league started off with a forfeit for the 6:00 p.m. game when Vegas Gold wasn't able to field enough players versus Texas Orange.


Texas Orange will look to bounce back week five when they play undefeated Tino's Pizzeria (Red) and Vegas Gold will hope to get a win vs Homestead Auto/ Approved Towing (Gold).




The first played game of week 4 started out pretty close 29-23 with black leading at the half. It seemed as if gold did all they could do to hang in before ultimately losing by 7.


There was a bunch of runs throughout the game but Zan Stewart led the way for Black with 21 points, three assists and five rebounds.


Aaron Smith was the game high scorer

with 26 points.


No player had a double-double in the contest.


Sid Doukoure (16) & Jake Vandusen (13) also scored in double figures.




In what had to be the game of the night, Tino's Pizzeria (Red) started out strong going up eight at the half 34 to 26.


Red came out in the second half with the same energy and finished the game 64-48.


Although the point scoring was low for Red, holding Slime Green to under 50 total points is an impressive feat.


Jacob Beach lead the Red team with 19 points.


Slime received 20 points from Danny Njoku and 18 points from Zyier Lawrence.


No player in this game recorded a double-double.


Integrated Chiropractic (Silver) hit the century mark vs Gold 100-64.


Graham Wooden was on fire from the start and made things much easier for his team offensively contributing 26 pts with 3 assists and 7 rebounds.


Jordan Shaul recorded 28 points for Gold.


Stevie Melendez also had 17 points for Gold.


Seamus Demauro was one point shy of having a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds



B league



In the first game of the day One Group (Orange) blew out Light Blue 106-61.


Aaron Smith shot exceptionally well from the field going 8/11 and 60% from three point range making 6 of 10 tallying 36 points.


Danny Njoku (Orange) lead all scorers with 38 points he also had double double with ten assists and was two rebounds away from a triple double (8).


Garrett Hassard also recorded a double-double for Orange with 20 points and 12 rebounds.


Damian Zimmer had a rough game vs Orange. He went 9/22 which is far from the average week for him.


Damian Zimmer led Carolina Blue with 21 points followed by 17 from Daniel Baker.



In the second B-league game of the day Benson agency (Sand) won in convincing fashion versus Black 79-71 behind 29 points from Cam Hayes and 28 points from Jaren Bull.


Brennen Lawton also scored 11 points and Chad Richards secured 10 rebounds for Sand.


The Black team was led by Jacob Beach, he finished with 15 points accompanied by 14 from Mitch Barton.


Interesting to note that both teams were very close in team total assists and rebounds.



Purple lead the game 37-29 at the half.


Royal Blue with a surprising turnaround in the second half, perserving to win 61-60.


This was a solid team win for Royal Blue. Jeremiah Ford led the team with scoring with 16 points followed by 14 from Greg Mattice, 11 from RayWilliams and 10 from Steve D'Angelo.


George Sheley had a game high 28 points for Purple


JO Annan and had a chance to win the game but the attempt fell short off the front of the rim.


Jo Annan, Greg Mattice and Jeremiah Ford all recorded double-doubles.


One Group (Syracuse Orange) winning the game 39 to 29 at the half.


Orange pulling off the win with 62 and White with 59.


Danny Njoku let the game in scoring with 26 points.


Aaron Smith also helped contribute offensively scoring 19 points for Orange followed by a massive double-double from Stevie Melendez with 15 points and 17 rebounds.



Zyier Lawrence had 25 points for the white team along with 13 rebounds followed by 17 points from Mariano Hernandez.



Olsen's Property Maintenance leading by 14, 44-30 at half.


White team rallied back eventually stealing the win 61-59.


Zyier Lawrence led the White team with 24 points and 15 rebounds followed by 15 points from Matt Schultz and a double-double ( 10 points 10 rebounds) from Khi Atkinson.


Mariano Hernandez also finished with 10 rebounds.


Peyton Olsen led the way for Carolina blue scoring 23 points.


Zeke Pulliam had a very solid overall game contributing 16 points along with six steals, two assists and 13 rebounds.


It's interesting to note that the White team was able to pull off the win although they had a +7 turn over differential.


Otsego Bicycles (Gravel) won in convincing fashion versus Upstate Companies I (Navy) 89-71.


Gravel was led by Scott Woodring with 27 points and 13 rebounds.


Graham Wooden contributed 19 points with four steals five assists and seven rebounds.


Jared Conklin was two rebounds shy of having a double-double and Dylan Jaklitsch facilitated as usual tallying 12 assists for Gravel.


Ethan Butts put forth a valiant effort scoring 28 points along with a steal, a block, four assists and 13 rebounds.


Almost all players almost scored in double figures for Navy but Hunter Lockwood fell one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 11 assists.



Gold winning a very close game 54 to 53 vs Ash Grey.


I know the gold team was hype!


Gold team gets their first blendos win behind 14 points from Damien Merwin. He also had two steals, an assist and nine rebounds.


Clayton Bard contributed 10 points, two steals, two assists and five rebounds while Noah Hatala was next in scoring with 10.


Noah and Damien were both one rebound shy of a double-double.


Dillon Hill led the way for Ash Gray with 25 points two assists and eight rebounds.


Jared Hill was next in scoring with 10 points.


Willis Ryam (12) and Rob Scianimanico (17) each had double digits rebounds.


Looking at the box score the Ash Gray team had five more team assist but got out rebounded by five and ended up +4 with turnovers.



Catskill Region Surveying Services (Forest Green) stays undefeated with a 22 point win, 61-39.


Forest green is one of the most in-depth and well-rounded teams in the league.


The box score for their games also usually illustrate this.


Stephen Anderson had a game high 15 points followed by 12 points from Colby Fancher and Arie Brunson snagged 15 rebounds.


Vegas Gold was without their best player Jonathan Codrington.


Adrian Martinez had a team high 13 points for Vegas Gold along with a stea,l two blocks, three assists and seven rebounds.


Travis Moyer also scored 12 points for Vegas Gold.



Heliconia up 7 at the half!


Forest Green picking up the tempo offensively in the second half, finishing the game 69-56.


Arie Brunson had a massive game for Forest Green scoring 33 points in addition to two steals one block one assist and 14 rebounds.


Ty Bruce also contributed a great efficient overall game with 13 points, a steal, six assists and six rebounds.


Josh Anderson recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and he also had six assists.


Johnny Palmatier lead Heliconia in scoring with 21 points shooting over 50% from 3.


Devon Chabot scored 14 points and had two steals two blocks three assists and seven rebounds.


Britton Zeh also scored in double figures for Heliconia with 11.


This game was close in the first half as Orange is only up 1 point 18 to 17.


Orange ultimately beat Irish Green 53- 42.


Lynn Reed led the game in scoring with 16 points and fell one rebound short of a double-double with nine.


This was a great overall game for Lynn. He had a steal four blocks and an assist.

He shot efficiently from the field going 5/6 along with 1/2 from 3pt.


Bruce dunkle is next in scoring for orange with 12 points.


Dylan McVey lead the Irish Green Team with 17 points and 7 rebounds.


No other players scored in double figures for Irish Green.




Noteable statlines:

Bagels N Cream (Maroon) Josh Baxter 20 points, 4 steals, 5 assists, 3 rebounds


Tree Specialist (Red) Jordan Weir 24 points, block, 9 rebounds


Maroon won their first game of the day 50 to 41 versus Red.


Josh Baxter, Luke Schnabel and Seamus DeMauro led the way offensively for Maroon.


Wynn Williams was two points shy of a double-double with eight points and 13 rebounds.


In the last B league game of the night Maroon was able to stay undefeated versus Orange winning by three, 57-54.


Josh Baxter lead Maroon with 22 points Luke Schnabel also had 21 points.


Orange did what they could and they're also leading at the half by 3.


Orange was led by 20 points from Bruce Dunckle followed by 10 points from Trenton Cole and Lynn Reed.

I'd like to take an opportunity to recruit anyone reading this to attend the three on three tournament on Main Street in Oneonta July 23rd and 24th


I've made it a hybrid tournament. Some divisions will only play on Saturday, some divisions can only play on Sunday. I will do it on the overall consensus of the group.


I'm trying to make a great community event so all are welcome to come!


Everyone is encouraged to attend, even if they're not associated with the basketball leagues!


This event is free for everyone to attend but to participate it is $80 per team and there are multiple divisions available.
