Blendos Summer Basketball League 2022 - Week 1 Game Results

A league week 1 results

The 2022 A division of the Blendos Summer Basketball League started off with a bang. No teams from the B division we're able to surpass the 100 point mark and Tino's Pizzeria was able to record one of the leagues all time high team scores 138 (the record is 158).

Tino's pizzeria (Red) was led by Jacob Beach en route to scoring 33 points with 2 steals, 5 assists and 11 rebounds. Dylan Jacobs also recorded 33 points while Ethan Butts and Brennan Lawton also recorded double doubles.

All players on the Tino's Pizzeria team scored in double figures and Cam Hayes finished with the first triple double of the season after a poor shooting night with 13 points, 14 assists and 17 rebounds.

Travis Moyer put in 38 points for Homestead Auto/ Approved Towing (Gold) followed by 23 points from Stevie Melendez. The gold team only had five players for this game but all other players were held under 10 points.

Integrated Chiropractic (Silver) put on impressive showing following the 6:00 p.m. game.

Silver was led by Scott Woodring and Albert Odero both scoring 29 points en route to a 37 point victory vs Sloan's NY Grill (Black) 107-70. Scott Woodring also recorded 20 rebounds. Graham Wooden also contributed a calm 25 points.

Sloan's New York Grill received 27 points from Jon Foulds followed by 15 from Mike Dabbraccio.

All other scorers were held to single digits and no one had a double double.

Black was without the Blendos Spring Basketball League MVP Zan Stewart.

Yak's Youth Center (Slime) followed up an entertaining 7 pm game by kindly introducing a new team to the league with a 40+ point win.

Slime was lead by Zayier Lawrence (33 pts) Matt Miller (30 points) and Daniel Njoku (28 points).

Matt Miller was 0-4 heading into the second half then hit 6 consecutive 3's.

Overall the slime team had a very solid team effort with several players having multiple assists and rebounds.

Texas Orange was without captain Johnathan Codrington but Luke Van Slyke put in an impressive a league debut scoring 31 points with 20 rebounds.

Texas Orange shot 7/47 from 3 pt range. I imagine this will be the teams worst shooting performance of the season and they will look like a completely different team when Johnathan Codrington and Josh Gregory are present.

B league

Since the B League consists of 19 teams this year I separated it into two divisions B1 and B2. I believe that doing so makes it so that the games can be competitive as we have several new teams and players in addition to past Blendos players coming out of retirement and now participating with thier sons.

At the end of the season, the best 16 teams will compete in a single elimination tournament to crown the b league champion but similar to the NCAA model this year we will crown a division champion for b1 & B2.

The winners of each division will receive a $100 voucher to participate in future leagues.

Reminder that the Most Valuable Player of the Regular season also receives a $50 voucher.

I'm using my phone and I can't get this to update to be in the correct sequential order of how the games happened (my apologies).

Each Sunday we will have around 11 games. Just remember that Sunday 6/19 there are multiple games.

Special efforts are being made to have games recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel but we need volunteers to help as well.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to remind people that if you want to participate in the blender drama 3 on 3 tournament the deadline is July 13th.

There will be limited teams per division. If you have questions about it let me know I'm trying to make the process as easy as possible there is no blend those games that weekend and playoffs begin the following week.

Please help in recruiting teams. This could be a great community event for years to come. This could also be an annual Blendos celebration if you think about it. At the time I will have something for everyone so even if you're retired come bring your kids come check it out.
