Blendos Basketball Legends: The Updated Top 100 Career PPG Leaders – Fresh Stats from Winter 2025 and a Blast from the Iconic Spring 2017

Submitted by Cam Hayes 1/9/2025

What’s up, Blendos fam?

The courts are cooling down after an electric Winter 2025 season, but the fire in our community is burning brighter than ever.

Today, we’re rolling out the definitive updated All Time Scoring Ranks (PTS) and the Top 100 All-Time Points Per Game (PPG) Leaders list, straight from the freshly enhanced Blendos Historical Legend archives.

Fresh Heat from Winter 2025 + Rediscovering the Epic Spring 2017 Season

Winter 2025 just wrapped up, and wow—what a way to close the year! We’ve locked in every stat from this freshly concluded season, capturing breakout games from stars like Zyeir Lawrence, Stevie Melendez, and so many more who lit it up at The Armory.

But the real magic here? We’ve also resurrected stats from the legendary Spring 2017 league—a true forgotten gem until now. Picture this: 16 teams, one of the deepest and most competitive fields we’ve ever seen. That spring was stacked with local college talent bringing next-level athleticism, skill, and intensity.

Games felt like playoff battles every night, with standouts like Jake Slobe, Mikey McElroy, Aaron Laing, and Jared Conklin trading buckets in matchups that still get talked about today. If i am not mistaken, Mason Weir (while still in highschool-Laurens CS) led his Blendos team to a huge upset of the Hartwick College basketball team in the playoffs.

That year we had local Highschool standout Ryan Sluiter (South Kortright) alongside fellow Hartwick players. I teamed up with SUNY Oneonta players. Bryan Backus brought an all star team with Jake Slobe (SUNY DELHI), Jimmy Gray also participated! The 2017 spring league also finished in historic fashion ending with Lawrence Coleman running down the court with 4 seconds left and hitting a buzzer beater to win the championship

but wait it gets better,

the shot was protested that it was after the buzzer and although the call stood, i agreed to review the film since I was on the winning team, we eagerly waited to see the replay and the neutral videographer captured the entire game except for the last 3 seconds because he got excited.

It was the ultimate blow for a team trying to protest but also results in one of the greatest league Championships for Miller Financial/Jett Industries Inc (White).

For too long, those stats were incomplete in our records, meaning some all-time lists didn’t fully reflect the greatness of that era. No more. By integrating Spring 2017 alongside the hot-off-the-press Winter 2025 numbers, we’re making sure every effort counts.

Special Tribute: The Pioneer – Chris Garcia

Before we dive into the lists, let's take a moment to honor a true trailblazer: Chris Garcia, the first player in Blendos history to reach 1,000 career points.

Not only did he shatter that milestone, but he did it as a 4-time Summer A League MVP, dominating the toughest division in the league. He also has one of the greatest win percentages in Blendos History.

Chris earned the bulk of his points during the early years (2013-2016), when the majority of games were played outdoors in the park—pure grit on concrete under the sun (or rain!). We had some indoor sessions at Hartwick College, Laurens Central School, and Oneonta High School to escape the weather, but it wasn't until 2016, when we moved to Oneonta Job Corps Academy (OJCA), that Blendos became primarily indoors.

Those park battles defined the era and made his dominance even more legendary. Chris set the standard for what it means to be a Blendos GOAT, paving the way for everyone who followed. Respect where it's due: Thank you, Chris, for building this league's foundation!

Breaking Down the Scoring Tiers: The 1k Club

The Blendos scoring landscape is like a pyramid of legends.

At the absolute pinnacle, we have just two players cracking the 8,000-point mark: Cam Hayes (8,991) and Damian Zimmer (8,596). These guys are in a class of their own, combining longevity (over 300 games each) with consistent production.

Right behind them is Danny Njoku at 7,111 points, forming an exclusive "7k Club" of one for now.

Then comes the big drop-off to the 4,000s, where Stevie Melendez (4,842) leads a group of battle-tested vets who've dominated multiple eras. This tier feels like the "Hall of Fame" level—players who've carried teams through Spring, Summer, and Winter campaigns.

As we descend, the competition heats up. Around 70 players have crossed the magical 1,000-point threshold, turning Blendos into a true "1k Club" of enduring contributors. It's a badge of honor, showing you've stuck with the league through ups and downs.

But here's where it gets exciting for the rising stars: If you're sitting on over 900 points, you're on the cusp! With a strong season or two, you could join that elite 1k group. Players like Jake Imperato and Bryce Kohout are tied at 998—literally two points away from immortality. Who's going to hit 1,000 first?

Top 100 Points Per Game Leaders (Min. 5 Games Played)

Creating a separate points per game chart was very important because here at Blendos, although we have long-time vets who've racked up massive totals, some players are only with us for a season for a multitude of reasons—college, moving away, work, life changes, etc.

This helps showcase league participants' past efforts, reminding us that even a short stint can leave a lasting mark on the league. It's a celebration of impact, no matter how long you stay.
